I first came across Sutherland's Topological Spaces sometime in 2003 – about a year before I started my Maths degree. How does the topology of $X$ affect $\cof(\T(X))$? For a space to have a metric is a strong property with far-reaching mathematical consequences. What are the possible structural properties for the ideal $\T(X)$ generated by the complete subspaces of $X$? Essentially, metrics impose a topology on a space, which the reader can think of as the contortionist's flavor of geometry. Let $X$ be an arbitrary metric space.
